Hello Heritage Lake Members!
Please remember that we are subject to Illinois Boater Regulations. Below is a summary of Illinois regulations that should be followed. Also, a PDF copy of the “Handbook of Illinois Boating Laws and Responsibilities” can be found HERE.
- Boats must be Titled and Registered (this excludes unpowered canoes, kayaks and paddleboards).
- There must be a USCG approved, wearable Life Jacket for each person on board. Also, boats 16 feet and longer must have a USCG approved throwable floatation device, (Canoes and Kayaks are exempt).
- All vessels with an internal combustion engine must have a USCG approved fire extinguisher.
- Boats operated at night must have navigation lights.
- It is illegal to operate a boat while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- Boats are required to have a stress signal (flares, whistle, boat horn).
- Boats are required to have a 50’ length of rope.
- Boats are required to have a paddle.
