Recycle Live Christmas Trees – Improve Fish Habitat

The Heritage Lake Conservation Committee is organizing a volunteer-based program this holiday season to use Christmas trees as future fish habitat within the lake.  Sunken Christmas trees make ideal fish cover for a variety of species, and do not harm the lake.  Residents are encouraged to drop their Christmas trees at the boat ramp parking lot after Christmas.  Any type of real Christmas tree can be used, but trees must be free of any decoration, tinsel, or paint. If you have a tree that you would like to donate, please drop it at the parking lot before Saturday, January 11th.  Weather permitting, volunteers will be working on the weekend of the 11th to place trees at designated spots on the lake.
Please leave trees on the north side of the parking lot and not on the brush burn pile.
If you would like more information or would like to volunteer to help place Christmas trees, please contact the office or email Conservation Committee member Ben Bowne at bbowne1@gmail.com.
